DR. YOUJEONG KIM, M.D., spine surgeon
Dr. Youjeong Kim studied Neuroscience at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received her medical degree from University of Texas, Houston, followed by orthopaedic residency at the University of California, San Francisco. She is fellowship trained in spine surgery and was the first woman spine surgery fellow at the Emory Spine Center in Atlanta, GA. She has authored peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters on orthopaedic and spine surgery. She is a member of the North American Spine Society and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Kim offers individualized comprehensive spine care and treatments for all conditions of the spine, especially herniated discs. Her philosophy of patient care is centered on patient education of their condition and all possible treatment options. She believes that most spinal conditions can be treated non-operatively. Her special interests include herniated disc minimally invasive surgery, motion preservation surgery including total disc arthroplasty and complex cervical spine surgery.
Brianna Pivo, physician assistant
Brianna Pivo is a board certified Physician Assistant who completed her training and master's degree at Pacific University in Portland, OR. She also earned a doctorate degree from Pacific University, focusing on the study and implementation of diversity, equity, and improvement practices in healthcare. She has taken special interest in Orthopedic Spine care through her neuroscience bachelor's degree, her prior experience working in Orthopedics, and her own personal journey as an Orthopedic Spine patient. Her goal is to use her training and experiences to provide quality, individualized spine care and education for her patients. She also assists Dr. Kim with surgical procedures.
A Physician Assistant, or PA, is a medical professional who provides comprehensive care, including diagnosing illnesses, developing treatment plans, ordering imaging, and prescribing medication. With thousands of hours of medical training, PAs are versatile and collaborative. PAs practice in every state and medical setting, improving healthcare access and quality.
